What to consider when selecting your interior paint colours
09/08/2021
Colour can transform any average, generic white wall space into something amazing – and paint is the easiest and least expensive way to do so. Selecting a paint colour is exciting, however it can also seem overwhelming as there are so many options to choose from. The most important question to ask yourself is, “what mood do I want to create?” The answer will help you navigate through the rainbow of colours available, to help you set the tone and achieve the look and feel you desire.
Being surrounded by colours you love, will bring comfort to the spaces within your home. To start, look at your existing furniture items, décor and accessories for inspiration. For example, your favourite vase, decorative cushions or artwork. What colours are you drawn to, and how do they make you feel?
Chimichurri
To create a socially stimulating, warm and inviting feel in your dining room, look to orange with brown undertones such as Wattyl Chimichurri. Or perhaps you would like a calming and tranquil atmosphere in your living room? Sample a green grey such as Wattyl Retro Avocado, this teamed with wood and terracotta tones for a balanced, harmonious look.
Pink is known for its nurturing and protective qualities; do you have a space that you want to reflect these feelings within your home? Wattyl Tickle Me Pink paired with a bright aqua will add a playful sense of fun. If you are looking to create a bold statement, with a touch of drama, a dark grey such as Wattyl Charcoal will allow your décor to pop against this dark neutral colour.
So, when you are selecting your paint colour for a room, think about how you want to feel within the space, as well as its functional purpose.
