Spring Summer ’24 Colour Collection

19/09/2024

A seasonal change with notes of joy and optimism are set to hit Australian Interiors.

Spring Summer Colour Collection

Introducing our Spring/Summer 2024/5 colour palette.

A uniquely curated collection of colours, drawn from local and global influences, reflecting a common desire for optimism and energy in a world that, for most of us, is currently challenging. “We all view our home as our sanctuary, one where we can feel safe and uplifted, so we really wanted to capture that in a range of colours that are joyful, playful and also reassuring,” said Katherine Champion, Wattyl Colour Specialist.

The collection of 16 colours can be split into four palettes, although the options for pairing and contrasting colours is endless.

In a world filled with uncertainty, the JOY palette is designed to imbue a space with new energy and optimism, satisfying our desire for a calming, uplifting ambience.

The soft hues of Spring Day and Little Secret are inspired by colours of the 60s and emulate the clear blue skies of summer and the lush green of tropical waters. Both are soothing, yet versatile and fresh. The sunlit yellow of Fromage complements and enhances the other colours within this palette – and all are perfectly balanced by the soft white of Invisibility Cloak.

The JOY palette is the key to invigorating interiors and bringing colour to the forefront in living spaces, bathrooms, children’s rooms – in fact anywhere we need a little optimism and positivity.

These colours are known as receding colours – they have shorter visual wavelengths, so they appear further away and make the space seem larger. They are ideal for colour blocking and colour drenching.

A palette of rich, earthy hues to nurture, calm and ground us all. Inspired by desert landscapes and the beautiful red dirt of the Australian interior, the Sensory palette reflects our desire for simplicity and authenticity, reflecting our love of the natural beauty of our surrounds.

Doeskin, Storm Dust, Peralta Red and bleached Driftwood are just some of the hues that characterise this celebration of nature, where the style is considered and craftsmanship is revered.

For interiors, the look is one of raw simplicity, where timbers, stone, bamboo and rattan feature alongside natural textiles, such as linen and leather, and lush green foliage.

Texture plays a significant role in the Sensory palette, from wall finishes to textiles. Note the beautifully textured painted finish of Storm Dust – in FX Marmorino smooth.

Conjuring memories of sun-kissed Mediterranean coastal retreats, with their deep blue azujelo tiles and bleached terracotta, the Escape palette is designed to create a mood of carefree tranquility, where time is irrelevant.

The look is tinged with nostalgia and playfulness, using colour and design as a form of escapism. The muted earthy tone of Noosa Sand is paired with the retro pastel of Coastal Classic and the deep Balkan Blue of a summer ocean. Diva White provides the conduit, the thread that binds the palette together.

The interior style is one of laid-back comfort, with over-sized sofas and colour-drenched cushions, local artworks and family photographs on the walls, while treasured souvenirs of far-off places create pockets of memories on shelves and tables.

Nuanced and harmonious, the Ethereal palette offers a sense of tranquility and calm, while instilling a distinct air of whimsy and playfulness. Dreamy, light, and airy, Ethereal captures a mood that is at once serene and yet powerful.

These colours – the blush of Tombola, the richness of Magma and the lilac hue of Poised in Purple are balanced by the clean, fresh Compose. They can just as easily be used alone as together – in the living space or the bedroom. For interiors they work well with sheers, organic linen, and pearl painted finishes – as well as marble, crystal and metallics.
