Sweet Treats for Winter Walls

Chocolate, caramel, ganache, mocha, latte, brown sugar – some of our favourite sweet treats are destined for our walls this autumn/winter season, as we continue our love of nurturing spaces, spaces that are the equivalent of a warm hug!

Once considered drab and dated, these sumptuous browns are experiencing a revival in living and sleeping spaces, not least because of their unrivalled ability to create an ambience of tranquillity and cocooning in the cooler months of the year.

Sumptuous chocolates, soft caramels, smooth lattes, rich ganaches – all of these hues ooze warmth and can be used to equal effect in living and sleeping areas, as well as bathing spaces.

These colours are earthy yet really quite refined, a timeless neutral, creating the perfect canvas for the layering of other natural materials such as timber, clay, rattan, wicker and stone.

This palette of browns works particularly well in a colour-drenched space – where walls, ceiling and trims are all painted the same colour.  Colour drenching increases the sense of cocooning, enveloping the occupant in an uninterrupted expanse of quiet colour.  But for those opting for a more conventional paint scheme, the sweet browns also work really well with softer, warmer whites or with a pop of a more saturated colour such as yellow, orange or even a rich blue.

The soothing power of mid-tone caramels can never be underestimated – and they work equally well with warm whites and cream as they do with black and deep browns.
