Transformative Teal

21/01/2025

Colour of the Year 2026 is TRANSFORMATIVE TEAL, according to WGSN (global trends forecaster) and Coloro (design industry colour experts).

Described by WGSN as a ‘fluid fusion between dependable dark blue and aquatic green’, Transformative Teal brings a sense of freshness, calm and restoration to a space.

This nature-inspired hue reflects widely-held views that by 2026 global demand for urgent changes in the way we treat our societies and manage our environments will have reached new heights.  The intensity and depth of this blue-green fusion is a salute to the diversity of nature and underlines a growing earth-first mindset worldwide.

And while the depth and richness of Transformative Teal is WGSN and Coloro’s interpretation of our needs and desires for 2026, we at Wattyl see a number of Australian favourites emerging within the Teal colour spectrum.

Wattyl Greek God has the same depth and intensity as Transformative Teal, while the more subtle teal interpretations such as Wattyl Brave and Saigon River will work well as accent colours in Australian bathrooms and kitchens.

Wattyl Teal Calla and Tempting Teal are two takes on teal that will introduce the much sought after ambience of calm and serenity, especially when used in living spaces, while the pastel hues of Little Secret (which is also featured in the Wattyl Spring/Summer 2024/5 palette) and Teal are perfect for children’s rooms and nurseries.
